Google Glass Got Her The World’s First Police Ticket

It was a first but totally expected. Cecilia Abadie, a woman from U.S. California and early adopter of Google Glass, was given the first police ticket for driving while wearing Google’s internet-connected eyeglasses. The police officer must of course first prove that she had the screen active while driving but still, she made history.

Google Glass although innovative, is considered to be extremely dangerous when driving. According to the California Vehicle Code section 27602 you can’t drive if a video screen "is operating and the monitor, screen, or display is visible to the driver while driving the motor vehicle”.  Of course, there are some Easy, fast and very handy!  exceptions about navigation devices and GPS. However, the incident has caused a huge debate whether it is ok to be ticketed when screens are off.
